A visit to Patrick Roger Chocolate in Paris

Saturday, March 26th, 2011

A Visit to Patrick Roger Chocolate in Paris from David Lebovitz on Vimeo.

I really admire people that do something and they stick to it, for as long as they live perhaps. And that’s just absolutely amazing to me because I am not one of those people….

I need to go to Paris soon! And practice my French, been so busy with learning Asian languages that I forgot about the first language that I learned outside of English, French!

So delicious, if I ever make it to Paris I’ll definitely have to go.

And that christmas tree? WOW

Also will be reading that book he mentioned; sweet life in paris.

edit: THEY HAVE AN ONLINE STORE. I was just wondering that, but I can’t afford..it.. I’ve never seen chocolate that expensive. ;___;

Essay time!

First of all, please watch this video, I clicked on it because I saw the screen cap of interesting cartoon figures. This video encompasses ideas that you always might have known or something completely brand new to you, and visually stunning.

This monetary compensation VS amount of work you do is something that affects us all, all of us that have jobs that is, which is basically everyone. I get paid a minuscule amount of money at my job, and it’s just a part time job and I am not needing the money to live which is lucky so… it doesn’t affect me too much.

But! The amount of money is small, the amount of respect I get at work is almost non-existent, after almost five years of working there, I am still watched for even the smallest things. Sometimes I want to go the extra mile, but I simply won’t because I don’t care enough to, I am not being paid enough to care.

Now it’s not all about the money, the way management at my work place works is very ridiculous, for a fortune 500 company, they sure are stupid. Logistics, promotions, marketing, sales, technology, EVERYTHING IS STUPID. And it makes me feel stupid to work there sometimes, it’s alright other times, because i like my coworkers.

And in this video, they talk about three factors: autonomy, mastery, and purpose. Actually, I’ve suggested things to management, but they mostly ignored me, how am I suppose to want to help and improve the my work place if this is how my ideas are being treated?

And I as grow older, one thing that I realized that I am proud to realize, is that I don’t need that much money. Being rich is great, but being relatively well off with a purpose in work is much better. And this is why I am still looking for the job that’s just for me, that i’m working as much for myself as it is for my boss, or whoever I’ll be working for.

The company I work for has been in business for about 30 odd years, they have expanded to a monstrous size and it’s time to call it quits. I honestly predict that they will be bankrupt and bought out within the next ten years.

Poor middle management, no incentives for employees, marketing is horrible and over all just a poorly designed place, they set these ridiculous goals that they are never going to reach.

And I work on the lowest possible rung on the ladder, so I’m just curious just how screwed up their corporate level is if i can see all these huge loopholes and mistakes at my level. But I digress because I don’t care.

So what can I say, I look forward to the day you being bought …

if you don’t change, it’ll be too bad.

studio visit: schemata architecture

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

the only reason why i want to work in design, despite having no talents in this area, is so i can have a STUDIO! Other careers may lead to the owning of a studio, but but but, it’s not a design studio!

Store Design

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

I’ve noticed that there are more and more effort being put into store design, especially in the up and coming brands, or boutiques. These are a few that I’ve noticed recently.
